Wild Pirates and Guardians of Egypt
Similar Games:
Guardians of Egypt is a less common clone; some similarities to Zodiac Lion and Zodiac Dragon
Risk Scale:
Green (usually a few spins; sometimes upward of 15x the bet)
Minimum Play:
Usually two or more unlit bombs without a counter in the first three columns. If bombs have a spin counter on them, you often need at least three or four in the first three reels.
Other:
I rarely come across Guardians of Egypt, so I’m looping it in with Wild Pirates.
Below is what Guardians of Egypt looks like:
Wild Pirates is a great game where you can sometimes invest just a few bets and have some huge line hits. But there is some nuance to it, as there are two types of bombs in play in this case. And like many previous machines, you need the bombs to primarily be on the left side of the board.
It’s hard to put a minimum threshold on a game like this, since there are so many scenarios, but I usually want two or more unlit bombs without a counter in the first three columns. By “unlit,” I mean no number next to the bomb. Something like this is my minimum, though some grinders might want a little more:
I’ll spin until those bombs explode; they explode and become wild when a bomb on an adjacent square is lit with a counter. It may sound a little complicated without a video to show how things work (that’s at the end!), but you want at least two unlit bombs in the first three columns. Like most slots, it’s also better if they’re in two columns rather than the same column.
How about something like this?
There are five total bombs, but two are lit with a counter and they’re all the way to the right. This isn’t even close to a play. How about this one?
These bombs look a little bigger, but the size doesn’t matter. I will say that this is close and some looser grinders could make a case for playing it, hoping to add something at the bottom of column three. As you can probably tell, there’s some gray area with this game and it’s hard sometimes to give yes/no answers on plays.
You generally don’t want the bombs to be lit. You want to collect as many as you can. Once one is lit, it will set off every bomb adjacent to it, which sometimes spoils what could otherwise be a promising build.
A nice find is something like this:
You have a line hit already in the works and none of the bombs are lit. Even if you don’t add any bombs on the ensuing spins, finding something like this is usually profitable. If that’s a nice find, here’s what a great find or build would look like:
On the next spin, the bomb with the “1” on it will set off every bomb on that board, because they are all touching. You can find even more loaded boards than this, but this is usually a screen-shaking win.
It’s an inexact science on what constitutes a minimum play, but hopefully these examples give you a general idea of what you should look for. If you have three or four bombs in the first three reels, lit or not, you generally want to play, but I’m sure there are exceptions.
