Other:

The word “similar” should be taken with a grain of salt. Yes, it looks like Ocean Magic, but other than that, they might as well be of a different species. They made an awesome game, Ocean Magic, much trickier. There’s still an advantage to be had, but it’s smaller when compared to the OG.

This phenomenon is nothing new in the slot world, where multiple new features are added to a next-gen version of a classic game, decreasing the advantage.

Let’s take a look at what we’re even going for:

Holy cow, that’s a lot to take in! We have a Lagoon Bonus, an Ocean Bonus, and a Reef Bonus. That’s just at the top of the board. At least in this example, you can see a bunch of bubbles on the main screen, and one even has a 2x multiplier.

If I saw a setup like this on the original Ocean Magic or Ocean Magic Grand, I’d be high-fiving the nearest slot attendant. But here? It’s not nearly as mouth-watering as it seems. The base game pays much lower on line hits than you might expect, as a good portion of each bet needs to pay for those three special bonuses that don’t exist in the original games.

Also, take a look at what it says under those three bonuses. The green Lagoon Bonus must hit by 60, the blue Ocean Bonus by 50, and the red Reef Bonus by 60. I’ve been ignoring what’s on the main screen as far as having yellow bubbles, unless one of the three features is close to its must-hit point.

But what’s a play? The three bonuses reset at 20. So if I’m solo-chasing just one bonus and the other two are far from their must-hit points, I’d want to be within four or five bubbles of reaching the needed number.

Suppose the green is at 55. I’ll spin until I reach that bonus. Or suppose the green and red are both around 50. I’ll play until I hit both of them. In the photo, the green is at 48, the blue 43, and the red 51, along with a screen full of bubbles. Remember, they all reset at 20, so that’s a nice little build for each, so I’ll play it and evaluate where I am after hitting my first bonus.

Having the yellow bubbles on the screen may not lead to big line hits in the base game, as they would in Ocean Magic or Ocean Magic Grand, but they’re still important. Once they reach the top of the board, they add to either the green (first and second reels), blue (third and fourth reels), or red (fifth and sixth reels).

Yes, this is a messy explanation for a messy game.
