Risk Scale:
Yellow (60x or so, but it depends on how you find it; sometimes closer to 100)
Minimum Play:
See that number on the screen? It reads: “Find the lucky firecracker in one of X strands of firecrackers.” If that number is six or under, it’s an advantage.
Other:
There is another rarer version of this game on larger denominations. My recommendation below is for the version on the 1-cent and 2-cent denoms.
This is a simple slot to explain:
See that number 12 on the screen? It reads: “Find the lucky firecracker in one of 12 strands of firecrackers.” If that number is six or under, it’s an advantage. It’s that simple. Some grinders will play at seven or under. Some want five or under. Six is what I’ve settled on.
I’ll usually just min bet on this version of the game, which will take a little longer but is the safest move. As you spin and get firecrackers, the strands pop, and eventually you’ll hit what you’re going for.
You’ll then choose among a few envelopes and win either the mini, minor, major, maxi, or mega. As always with things like this, it’s all random and it doesn’t matter which envelope you choose. You’re almost always going to hit the mini, minor, or major, but if you’re starting this game at six or fewer strands, you’re usually going to leave a winner.
I don’t have video footage of New Year Festival yet, so here’s a clip courtesy of RandomSlots from seven years ago. Old advantage game! He happened to notice the advantage too in his commentary. He suggested “three or less” for the strands remaining for it to be an advantage. Sure, three or fewer would be great, but most pros I know won’t pass up anything six or fewer.
Anyway, here’s his video since I don’t have one yet:
