Other:
For games like this, I usually tend to give conservative recommendations. Some pros play this with worse numbers and wouldn’t recommend needing as much money on hand.
The folks I’ve spoken to also don’t recommend chasing the plane and suggest looking for 40 or higher on the car and 55 or higher on the boat.
Here’s what the game looks like (Mermaids Gold version):
You can see the following bets: $0.60, $1.20, $1.80, $3, and $6. Unlike with Buffalo Diamond and some other uncapped games like it, the minimum-number requirements are the same on every bet. So if you see a 40-plus car or a 55-plus boat on a $1.20 bet, it’s the same as if it’s on a $6 bet. Of course, for a $6 bet, you need five times as much money as you do for a $1.20 bet.
As you might expect, people often look for combos with this game. Something in the ballpark of a 28 car with a 40 boat is worth playing, but know going in that this game is volatile, both in how long it sometimes takes to hit and how much it pays out when you do hit what you’re going for.
There’s also a “luxury zone” row in the base game and you can land random amounts of money or various jewels (opal, ruby, emerald, sapphire, diamond) in that row at any point. Of course, anything above the emerald is exceedingly rare.
Each version of this game has a different bonus symbol, but you need three of them. With Great Eagle, you need three eagle symbols to reach the bonus. Once you get three of the bonus symbols, you spin a wheel and land on the car, boat, or plane. The car is the most common to hit and the plane the rarest.
As you’d expect, the plane is also the most valuable. It gives you three rows of the “luxury zone” mentioned earlier. The boat has two rows of the luxury zone and the car just has one, which is the same as the base game. With a larger luxury zone, you’re more likely to catch gold bars with random amounts of money imprinted on them, along with the aforementioned jewels.
I’ve seen a max bet with a plane — i.e., the biggest bet and the best symbol — pay under 40x the bet on a good number of free games. That kind of payout should tell you all you need to know about how unpredictable this game is and why it’s one I’m never excited to play.
