Risk Scale:

Minimum Play:

I recommend the following: 25 mini, 35 minor, 58 major. I’d also play combos; something like a 17 mini with a 26 minor. Or a 16 mini with a 40 major would be another example. Leave after hitting either end of a combo play.

Other:

Chasing the mega often gets you in trouble.

You’re probably noticing a theme with these volatile slots: They often have three or more numbers that don’t have a cap (i.e. no must-hit point) and if you’re chasing the top progressives, you better bring your extra big wallet.

That’s the case with Dragon Lights and I’ll say I wasn’t sad to see it go when they pulled it from my local casino. Here’s what it looks like:

And the bottom of the board conveniently shows all of the numbers for each bet:

So what are we looking for? Notice how some of the numbers are engulfed in flames? Pay no attention to that. It has no bearing on how close something is to being hit.

I’m on the tighter side with this game. I’ve seen and heard plenty of horror stories, even on minis and minors, so I recommend the following: 25 mini, 35 minor, 58 major. Notice I didn’t include the mega, which some people chase. If you pressed me, I’d say well over 100.

No number can get over 200, but again, it’s not a must-hit at 200. If I see something absurd like a 140 mega, I probably try to split the play with some friends. That’s a great card-builder or comp play in general, but even at that rare type of number, you can get destroyed.

I also play combos, which aren’t as exact and are therefore hard to pinpoint. But something like a 17 mini with a 26 minor would catch my eye. That way, both numbers are close to where I want them, and I can leave after hitting either. Something like a 16 mini with a 40 major would be another example. There are plenty of others you could convince yourself on, but just make sure to leave after hitting either end of it, assuming the number remaining isn’t close enough.

How much do you bring? I’ll probably shock you with this, but 300x for the mini, 600x for the minor, and 1,400x for the major. That means if you’re chasing a $5 major, you want at least $7,000. You usually won’t need anywhere near those suggestions, but this game can go horribly wrong sometimes and you want to be overprepared.

What’s nice about this bonus is there are no “five free games” options if you do hit a wheel. If you land a wheel, which is done with two Dragon Lights symbols and a wheel, you’re getting at least a mini. You can also hit a mini, minor, major, or grand with two Dragon Lights symbols and that progressive.

The mini pays up to 3x your bet on random spins, the minor is up to 5x, the major is up to 8x, and the mega is up to 15x. What’s annoying is you need to also have a line hit for any of that to factor in. It won’t matter if you have a 15x spin if no symbols connect.

The bonus can be like a Buffalo type of bonus in a way, where you’re dead-spinning for a while and then get one or two sizable hits. The more games you have, the less likely it is to completely whiff on a bonus. It’s hard to even give a payout range since there are so many variables.
