Looking for some crazier swings and edge-of-your-seat excitement? Buffalo Diamond Extreme might be the game for you! Unlike Buffalo Diamond, which has been around for years, Buffalo Diamond Extreme is newer.
First, here’s what the game looks like:
It’s an impressive-looking game, with the versions I’ve seen so far having 1-cent and 5-cent denominations. But like with a lot of Aristocrat’s buffalo offerings, it’s not for the faint of heart. In fact, if you can’t handle swings, I recommend ignoring this game completely.
If you do muster up the courage to sit down, you’ll notice the bottom part of the board looks similar to Buffalo Diamond, except there’s now a fourth gem color available:
And instead of $0.75, $1.60, $2.50, and $4.00 bets, the 1-cent denom has $1, $2.25, $3.75, $5, and $7 options. So what are we looking for, and how much money do we need?
I’m sure at a certain point the top gold gem becomes profitable to chase if you’re looking at an enormous sample, but for our purposes, we’ll pretend that gem doesn’t exist. I couldn’t even begin to ballpark how much money you’d need to bring and what number it might start being profitable at.
I’d only chase the purple as part of a combo play, where I could get off the machine after hitting a green or perhaps a blue that paired with it. Something like the $7 example above would catch my eye: 19 green, 19 blue, 67 purple, 159 gold. Pray you hit purple, but get off after green.
It’s important to note that like with Buffalo Diamond, you need fewer gems the higher your bet is. On a $1.00 bet, you’re more likely to get free games on a bonus than at a higher bet, thus making the minimum requirements increase for low bets. So something like that example of 19 green, 19 blue, 67 purple, 159 gold on a $1 bet is a hard pass. You’re only guaranteed a color wheel on max bet.
Green combo plays in general offer the safest, and I use the word loosely, course of action. I recommend bringing 400 times the bet and mostly playing for solo greens or green combos. So if it’s a $3.75 bet and you’re off after hitting the green, having $1,500 on you should be safe enough.
I’d ballpark solo greens as follows, along with what should be a safe amount of money to bring with you:
$1.00: 33+ green, $400
$2.25: 31+ green, $900
$3.75: 29+ green, $1,500
$5.00: 27+ green, $2,000
$7.00: 25+ green, $2,800
I don’t yet have enough data to provide numbers on solo purples, but green-blue and green-purple combos offer some safety (off after green) and upside (chance to hit an inflated blue or purple).
For solo blues, I’d ballpark the following (may adjust this in the future with more of a sample):
$1.00: 75+ blue, $800
$2.25: 70+ blue, $1,800
$3.75: 65+ blue, $3,000
$5.00: 60+ blue, $4,000
$7.00: 55+ blue, $5,600
Like with Buffalo Diamond, this game is almost fully predicated on the bonus. Not just what the bonus pays, but how much it costs before you land the bonus you’re chasing.
It’s the same deal, where three wheels give you a wheel spin and a chance at a color. Like with Buffalo Diamond, the max bet guarantees you a color, but there’s an added perk: If you have an “Extreme” coin, you’re also guaranteed a color wheel, regardless of the bet size.
In the bonus, you’re hoping for the same thing: a bunch of sunsets, which act as multipliers, ideally paired with some big-paying symbols like buffaloes. All pays in the bonus are multiplied already, depending on the color you hit: 2x for green, 3x for blue, and 4x for purple and gold.
And as with Buffalo Diamond, the range of payouts is — wait for it — extreme. You can have a low green at $3.75 pay $2,000 or a high purple at $7 pay $300. If you like stability in your life and predictable outcomes, stay away from this game, where you need a big sample to start getting anywhere close to the expected outcomes.
