Risk Scale:

Red (bring 600x your bet for blue)

Minimum Play:

Play if the red is 12 or higher, the green is 13 or higher, or the blue is 14. They all must hit by 15 and blue takes the longest. Some pros don’t play anything but 14s for any of the colors.

Other:

I won’t go near these games on a cruise or in an airport.

Some grinders don’t believe in these games under any circumstance and it’s not hard to fault them. They may even be casino-dependent, where they aren’t beatable long term if it takes too long to move a color one number.

Here’s what the game looks like:

As you go through the five bets, you’re looking for the blue at 14. In the example above, it’s at the reset of 10, but pretend it’s 14. Each color must hit by 15, so if you find a 14 blue, the color can’t go higher than 15.

Some pros believe each color is on a meter, meaning after a certain number of spins, it must move up one number. There’s some debate about that and even if it’s true, it’s hard to know what the meter is set at in a given casino. For that reason, some grinders don’t play a 14 blue unless they’ve seen someone spinning it for a while.

Because of the uncertainty around this game, the length it sometimes takes to move the blue up one, and the range of payouts once the blue is hit, I don’t like this slot. That said, during a slow time of day, especially if I want the comp action, I’ll dabble.

Some grinders also play any red 12 or higher, with the logic being that it’s much easier to hit than a blue. That part is fair and at least it won’t cost you nearly what blue will on average, but it doesn’t usually pay a whole lot, either.

Some also play any green 13 or higher, which is close in my opinion. A 14 green, rare to find, is a play. At 13, it’s a gamble and probably depends on the casino.

The 14 blue, as mentioned above, is usually the number that pros who play this game can agree on. Even then, if you’re not sure about the meter at the casino, it’s a big gamble, especially if you haven’t seen someone actively spinning it for a while.

Also, here’s another version of this game I’m grouping with the originals:

The Legend of the 3x 2x Phoenix/Peacock Progressive Free Games Wheel version is less common. I still play blue 14s, but I don’t play for any other color unless it’s at 14 too (so no 13 greens or 13 reds).

For the originals, three bonus symbols of the same color give you a bonus. Sometimes the machine also randomly awards a color (usually red). The red pays 2x for every line hit, the green 5x, and the blue 10x.

You can fully brick out on 15 blue spins or one blue spin could pay 500x your bet. It’s that type of range.
