Treasure Hunter and Treasure Hunter Unleashed
Similar Games:
None
Risk Scale:
Orange (200x your bet, assuming you’re chasing mini-minor combos; otherwise it’s even riskier)
Minimum Play:
For the original Treasure Hunter, at least two for the mini and two for the minor. Leave after hitting either. For Treasure Hunter Unleashed, at least six filled out among the mini, minor, and maxi. Leave after hitting any.
Other:
Keep in mind, Treasure Hunter and Treasure Hunter Unleashed aren’t clones and have different minimum requirements.
For the original Treasure Hunter, you’re always chasing combo plays. If you start solo-chasing one-away maxis or majors, you’ll get destroyed. Ideally, you’ll find something like this:
As you can see above, we have two out of three on the blue mini, two out of three on the pink minor, and two out of three on the yellow major as a fun extra. It’s one away from an extra green maxi from being a perfect find.
But all I need to play is two for the mini and two for the minor. Once I hit either, I’m done. Sometimes it can be quite hard to get those pearls and even more so with the maxi and major.
You can see the board below for each bet within a denom:
You might be tempted to play that $2.25 bet as well in this example, with two for the mini and two for the major, but I wouldn’t mess around with that. The major comes infrequently and without a chance at the minor, you’re taking too many losses with mostly just the mini in play.
With Treasure Hunter Unleashed, which you can see below, I want six filled out among the mini, minor, and maxi:
I won’t play this example. There are five filled out among the mini, minor, and maxi. Why is this worth playing on Treasure Hunter, but not Treasure Hunter Unleashed?
Great question! Treasure Hunter Unleashed has an additional bonus feature, and because part of each bet is going toward paying for it, you need higher thresholds in the base game. That’s a concept that will come up throughout (think Regal Link Lion and Regal Link Raven). When there’s more stuff added to a game, you’re the one paying for it!
For both games, getting three “free games” symbols gives you eight free games. You can also trigger this by landing one “free games” token. This bonus often doesn’t pay much, unless you retrigger and collect a bunch of kraken symbols. When that happens, you eliminate some weaker symbols and can have a few huge spins toward the end of the free games.
That comes at random. Instead, we usually play for the mini or minor, which increase depending on your bet size.
Treasure Hunter Unleashed also has an “unleashed spins” feature that comes at random and gives you three spins with a ton of wilds for each. I’ve seen this bonus pay massively, which on one hand is awesome, but if you think about it, that decreases the already-slim advantage this machine offers slot hustlers like us. As mentioned above, that’s why, when I do play Treasure Hunter Unleashed, I need a stacked base game.
Also, with Treasure Hunter Unleashed, you can “gamble the mini” if you’re awarded it. That just means you can go for double or nothing when you hit the mini. I usually just take the mini, but long term, it doesn’t matter what option you choose.
I don’t have a video yet for either game, so here’s some footage courtesy of TheBigPayback:
